It's Monday... I am still having a bit of a sick day today (gross!), so it's the perfect time for me to hang out and answer some questions. This should be fun...
Q: I would like to know other than Old Spaghetti Factory what else is some of you fav foods? What do you snack on when you craft? Thanks!!
A: I don't really think about eating when I am crafting. I get so caught up in the moment. But if I had to pick something it would have to be Granny Smith apples cut up with a hint of Kosher salt. The tartness of the apple with the salt really satisfies my craving.
I also love latte's! My favorite is a Venti (Starbuck speak) nonfat, two Splenda latte with extra foam. What I like even more is when it is served in a big cup like the photo below. There is something so special about the way it looks, about getting a big heap of foam on your upper lip, the aroma....
Probably because most baristas are slammed, but do you know that the real way to make a latte' is to put the milk in first and then float the espresso on the top? There is this one cafe' in Gearhardt, Oregon that does just that and they serve their latte's in clear glass. You can see the swirl of espresso sinking to the bottom. Great presentation!
Q: Have you ever been to New Zealand?
A: I get asked this a lot because my mother lives there. Honestly, I am probably one of the only people on this planet not interested in going to New Zealand. I have an incredible desire to stay warm and this place (or at least where my mom is) is not. That is not to say, if my mom ends up living there longer than expected, I won't go. I would to see here but I don't think she will be there very long. They want to get back as soon as possible.
Q: Are you a good singer?
A: I sometimes think I am and then I watch American Idol and realize maybe I am not so good afterall. I love to sing, especially in the car.
Q: What is your favorite stamp/stamp set at the moment?
A: Currently, I am into the Amuse stamps I just bought from Amuse Art Stamps and Cool Scrapbook Stuff.
Q: I am curious how you got in to being able to sell your creations to the public?
A: Well, it was a process... at the time I was a real estate agent in Washington and one of the things I learned was working by referral. With the concept of working by referral, you create walking, talking billboards for your business through the people that you know by "popping by" your clients home or office with a little gift that has a cute, clever tag-line attached reminding them of how you work and that you are never too busy for any of their referrals. I loved the idea of making these pop-by gifts and ran with it. Later, after moving to California, my husband one day came to me and said, "you know these pop-by gifts? I think you are on to something and should consider making it a business." I then realized I could meld my creativity for pop-by gifts and my love for paper arts and the rest is history!
I have some wonderful clients who we've developed reciprocity for and enjoy helping one another watching each other succeed. It has been a lot of fun the past almost 2 (wow!) years.
Okay, I am off to get some projects done. I hope you have a wonderful Monday!
